So we have arrived safe and sound in medellin, the home town of El Señor, Pablo Escobar. Our bus journey unfortauntely was not as pleasant as some before. We luckily got the seats up the front but there was very little leg room and then to make matter worse there was a leak above my seat so my pants started to get soaked. I stuck some tissue up in the roof which slowed it down but I awoke at 4.30 in the morning with weat tracksuit bottoms. Fortunately 30mins later the bus stopped and half the people got off the bus so I was able to jump into one of their seats for the remainding few hours. When we arrived at Medellin Bus station Anne went to put back on her flip flops only to realise that one had gone missing, it looks like someone must have kicked it off at the previous stop so she was stuck with one of my spare slip slops around 3 sizes too big!!
We arrived at our hostel calle "Palm Tree Hostel" which is in the subburbs of the city in a quiet little area only 10 mins out of the city on the Metro. Once we had settled in we decided to visit the grave of Pablo Escobar. The man who introduced Cocaine to the world. We found this quite easily with a metro and then a bus followed by a short walk. After our visit to Pablo we ventured off into the city centre and had a good look around just to find our bearings. On first impressions the city is very beautiful and the people our extremely helpful. Although we did find ourselves in the red light district and walked passed a topless Transexual with full implants, she was about twice the size of me, was very amusing.
Tomorrow I think we shall just spend more time in the centre before making our way to Bogota the following morning.
I have also added some more photos to my Los Llanos blog if you want a look at some of the wildlife I saw!
