Hey! Here's my first blog entry, hopefully I will manage to keep it quite short!
I met about half the group at the traveloge at Heathrow on Wednesday night and everyone seems really cool and friendly so that sort of calmed the nerves before heading off. The flight to Hong Kong was good, didn't seem to long and I managed to watch loads of films. Only thing was my feet ended up a bit swollen and i had cankles all over for the day - boo! Looking a bit better now, thank goodness!
We've been in Hong Kong for just over 24 hours now. Think I've fought the jetlag very well, we got to the hotel about 9am but rooms werent ready so we dumped our bags and went out and got some food and wandered about a bit. It's not as busy as I thought it might be but quite like it. In the afternoon we were pretty touristy and went on the metro (obviously i aced that!) to this cable car ride thing that went pretty high in the mountains up to the biggest statue of buddah in the world, it was really awesome and the views
were amazing as were those from the cable car. When we got back we eventually found some takeaway and then went and watched the light show at the harbour, quite cool but pretty tacky and I think all the building lit up looks impressive enough anyway!
So, I've mostly been hanging out with a group of people who are actully going on to Australia, the New Zealand lot are nice too but it's just that the Oz lot are more people who I would normally hang out with and there are a few Scots and Irish in that group so its nice. It's fine though cause the New Zealand group is massive so I'm not at all worried about that, we've still got about 2 days here and then the flight to Auckland and I know them all anyway so I'll get to know them better as we head over. Dunno how the Oz people that I've been hanging out with are going to cope though as most of them have said to me they think they are gonna get lost with out having me around. Which is nice and makes me more confidant for the rest of my
travelling!
Right, feel like I've written a bit much already! Going to Hong Kong Island on a tour in the afternoon today and then for traditional Chinese dinner later and then more tours tomorrow before the flight at 9pm so that should all be really good!
Not missing home to much yet, just people. Trying not to be on my own to much cause that's when I start thinking about it all and it can be a bit emotional. Hoping to feel a bit more settled when I get to Auckland but really missing some people a massive amount at the moment! Glad we are keeping really busy!
Okay, I'm going to go now, a few of us girls are going to go get a massage - delighted. I'll write more when I get to Auckland on Monday!
Bye for now, miss you loads, love you more!

Sounds like you're the expert traveller already. Good stuff! Looking forward to hearing from you when you get to Auckland! x
