I arrived in Liverpool Thursday around lunch time and after answering about 100 questions about why I was visiting the UK, I took the bus to my friend's apartment. It was SO nice to hear and speak English! I could actually understand what passerbyers were saying.. It was a refreshing break, although Liverpoolians (yeah I made that up) are a little but hard to understand. I met Maria in the Outer Banks through our random roommate from Virginia.. She's actually from Cyprus (an Island off of Greece), so visiting her in the UK was also a small taste of what Cyprus is like because all her friends in Liverpool are also from Cyprus.
On the first day, we didn't do too much because I was exhausted from lack of sleep! She had pasta ready for me when I got there.. and it was delicious 😊 We went to Starbucks and we both had caramel machiatos.. Here, coincidentally we met a bunch of her friends.. We caught up a bit on life since the outer banks! We walked around the center for a bit and went back to her place around seven. She made a fresh salad with cucumbers, tomato, greens,
and feta cheese.. and her friend Elena came over who is her neighbor in Cyprus. We laughed for hours and even though we planned to go to a wine bar, we decided to stay in.
The next day, we got up around ten, ate breakfast, and went into the center of town again where Elena met us. We went to the Titanic museum and the Beatles museum.. then we went to a cute outdoor cafe for coffee right on the decks of the port. After museuming, we toured around the older part of town and saw some of the old buildings.. Then.. it was shopping time 😊 Liverpool has a HUGE outdoor mall. I bought a couple scarves and a top to wear that night. Then Maria took us to a chocolate shop where they had a chocolate fountain. All three of us had chocolate shots.. it was SO good.. I wanted another one, but they were two pounds each 😞 After shopping, we all took naps to get ready for Greek night!
So, I guess it is common for Greeks not to eat dinner until 10:30pm! We went to a Greek restaurant with a bunch of Maria's
friends around 1030 or 11.. I LOVE Greek food, so I was in heaven.. Then around 12:30 we went to Greek night, which is a club that gets taken over by the Greeks every Friday night.. It was fun to hear Greek music!
The next day, we took a train to Manchester.. Manchester is a lot bigger than Liverpool and I think more beautiful although they are both industrial cities. In Manchester, we met Maria's cousin and her friend. We had coffee at a sheik cafe/bar. Her friend's English was really good was it was easier to have a conversation! We went to the mall for a couple hours and to lunch. We went to Maria's cousin's flat which was REALLY nice for a student flat.. A few of her friends came over who knew NO english, but tried their hardest! It was so cute.
We took the train back to Liverpool and on the train we met some Liverpool boys.. Don't let their cute, polite accents deceive you, they can be quite crude! When we got back, we ate some salad, and went to Elena's apartment for wine. I taught them how to play Kings.. which was
pretty hilarious!!! We were there until 4am, so the next day we slept in kind of late and I went to the airport to start my journey back to Prague, first stop Norway!

Another great trip! Love the Cyprian (sp?) influence too.
