And we're off!

The time has come to go on our little jaunt arond the world.
4 30 am is a bit harsh to be start, Thanks to my (Liam) Mum and Dad for putting us up for the night, and Mum for driving us to the station at that ungodly hour.

We meeet up with our friend Eve and her daughter at Heathrow They
e off o L. A. for three months with friends and enough luggage to clothe the whole of Russia.

11 hours, 3 movies, 2 meals, and 7 toilet trips later we arrive in L. A. through passport control Charlotte breezes through nothing to do with her chest she assures me, I get the Spanish inquisition (and no one expects the Spanish inquisition!) say cheerio to Eve and daughter then its off to the hostel.

Nice little place called Orbit on Melrose Ave, Big room, Big bed, hot shower and we are happy chappies, mind you weve been up for 20ish hours and are still going.

Time for a walk up to Sunset Blvd for a spot of dinner, quaint little burger joint is the first thing we find after about 40 mins of walking, only to find out the next day we had turned the wrong way on to Sunset. home for bed for well earned sleep.

After planning to go to Universal on our first day we ran down stairs for our free breakfast to find out that there are not enough of us on the trip so get talked into going on a city tour. And boy are we glad we did. When we first turned up we saw a load of people hanging around on the street outside the hostel & assumed that they were homeless! To our suprise we find out that they are a bunch of teenagers queueing for the latest limited edition t-shirt for a bloody cupcake shop! They queued for 3 days sleeping on the pavment! Crazy!

L.A. is such a sprawling city! We saw the strip & checked out places to visit later that eve, hollywood boulevard & the walk of fame! All of the stars homes including the playboy mansion & Dr Phils house(he was on his way out as we passed by!)!

Then we popped down for a a nice walk thru Venice with all of its canals(who knew), to the beach

That man, so wanted to be in my picture!!
heading towards Santa Monica. We even squeezed in a little beer before being returned to the hostel for free beer, a $5 supper & a night on the strip. We managed to visit The rainbow rooms, Wiskey a go go & the Viper rooms! All rock hangouts. We saw a couple of good bands, but no stars!

Right I am back to the land of the living and although there is still no free internet access at least we have access to real computers!

Day three involved an early start as is becoming usual now, must be the jet lag (or the busy street!), it involved our first use of public transport in the US, but luckily as we now have got a grasp of the city from the tour, we know where we are going (roughly!). A bus with a funny collecting machine to the Hollywood boulevard, a metro (with no staff & a couple of scary looking cops) to the bottom of the hill at Universal, then a free tram to the studio it's self!

And away we go! As we were expecting a rush due to it being a weekend we decided to start with the big rides 1st, but much to Liam's horror the Terminator ride was out of action due to it being Halloween and having been taken over for a Rocky Horror show tribute! Shame that was on in the evening other wise we would have enjoyed that!!

We went off to the Studio tour, which involved a 45 min ride on a trolley buss looking at the outside of the studio's (big concrete boxes) and being driven around a few of the film set's. The most impressive was the one of the crashed airplane from war of the worlds! Then we got chased off of the Psycho set by an out of work actor! Not very scary!

We ran around doing all of the other rides & experiences. Backdraft was good, but not what i expected! Shrek was kind of cool, but the last ride we went on was The Simpsons (which I did not fancy at all) was the best! Amazing!

Surprisingly as the park was open until 6pm, we finished around 5pm, so headed home & crashed, ready for our big day out at Six flags (I won't go into the polava of trying to

for Charlotte!
get park tickets, but it involved a very tired Charlotte & Liam & rubbish internet connections/computers!).

Six flag's was again an early start (8.30 pick up), thanks to the free Hostel coffee for keeping us going! Today was not a day for the faint hearted!! Roller coaster heaven!! Woo Hoo! We managed all of the rides in plenty of time (again a pleasant surprise) most of the day it felt a bit like a ghost town due to the lack of people, was it the hangovers or had everyone held off for the fright nigh Halloween special? Who know's?

I had been dreading the Superman ride all day & due to the lack of people felt it would be really poor taste if i did not complete the set! It turned I had nothing to fear in the 100 mph shot into the sky as I think I have driven my car this fast!

Back home & time for a quick burger at the local eatery that we wish we had found on the first night! "8oz" best burgers & beer in the town! Liam even found a local Ale called "Arrogant Bastard" that he is fast

Charlotte got a free lollipop from the owner for being soo pretty!
becoming a fan of.

Monday was a day that we planned to chill out a bit as we were averaging nearly 20,000 steps a day! Liam has a step counter on his phone, which has turned out very interesting and explains why Charlotte's feet hurt soooo much!

Well, the quiet day turned into a little free breakfast, followed by a little good bye to a couple of the friend that we had met in the Hostel, a little free internet action at the sister hostel & a not so little walk down the the food market a few blocks away! Well this is not a food market that i was expecting. It was a very nice shopping plaza, with a food hall on the side. We found the food hall on the side after a very nice lunch (including the best Lentil soup i have ever tasted!) at "The Cheesecake Factory" (David Beckham was seen there a couple of day's before!!). My Happy place! What a wonderful end to our trip to L.A.
