Lindos
The nice bay below the village Lindos A weekend on a Greek Island
“Ok, so we’re stuck in the quicksand. What do we do now? Why did I even listen to you??” I was completely pissed off with M. An hour ago we took the dust road leading to the sandy beach of Prasonisi. We followed the 4WDs' tracks passed there before us. We sat on the beach watching the kite surfers playing some nice tricks in the windy spot, where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean sea. When we had enough, we started heading back inland, but this time tried a shortcut through a more virgin ground. It took us less than a minute to sink in it with our little car. Fortunately, it didn't take long before our savior has showed up in the form of a chubby Greek guy who had an excellent idea. "You ma'am - please sit on the engine's cover", he told M. Without thinking too much she sat on it so her (slim) weight could squeeze down the sand. It worked perfectly! Seconds after we were back on track. Something to remember for next time…
It all started as a birthday surprise M arranged me. The evening before the flight
she showed me the tickets and we soon found ourselves sitting beside a dreamy swimming pool only few meters from the beach. The hotel was superb. We passed our days drinking cavas and beers around the pool, keeping a constant alcohol level in our blood throughout the day.
On the third day we felt it was time for a little adventure so we rented a car and went on a tour circulating the small island. The first destination after leaving Rhodes town was the "authentic" village Lindos, about an hour drive. Arriving there we could watch the famous castle rising above the beautiful bay with its green-blue water. We went down the beach and dived in the cold water. At night we visited the old town Rhodes which we found a bit too commercial although impressing with its night-lights and clean alleys.
The short vacation was over too quickly but at least the flight back to Tel-Aviv was rather short. We decided this could definitely be a destination to come back to in the future.
