Hot hot hot. 32 degrees and very humid. No wind. That is the weather in Cartagena that met me at the airport... No AC and no hot water in the house. But actually, hot water is not a requirement in this heat... The AC on the other hand... I actually did not plan to go to an Internet cafe today, but since they have AC, it seemed like a good option... :o)
Apparently the "cooler" temperatures will get here next month, but I beleive that is barely going to change things...
I normally wake up before 6 am in the morning to go walking with Mariela, the lovely lady I am staying with. Even then the temperatures amount to about 30 degrees C (aprox 87 F). And we are not talking Arizona-dry-heat, where you don't sweat - oh no, whatever, you do, even just sitting, your whole body is wet wet wet...!!!
And even in the shower you don't cool off. And let's not talk about putting body lotion or cream on... No es possible!
So right now, my impression of Cartagena is hot and humid! :o)
Therefore my new best friends are
- the fan (since we don't have AC and live on an island with no sea breeze ?!?!)
- the umbrella (for walking int he sun
- One of those Spanish fans that the Senoras use to cool of, or "fan" themselves that I will buy. ;o)
