Day 2: August 18, 2009:
I woke up around 5 local time, fooled around on the computer a little bit and got ready to go out. I went to go find the super market, got there at around 7:30 but it didn’t open until 8, so I went on my first 7-11 run. Even though you can find English most of the time on the labels, sometimes it’s really hard to find, and I probably looked really stupid staring at the labels so long, but I don’t care. I ended up getting some shampoo, body wash, cups and spoons, strawberry yogurt, and melon soda --because I think it’s the stuff Daniel was telling me about, so I had to try it. (I tried it later, and it turns out it wasn't the stuff Daniel warned me about. I'll have to go searching for it later.)
I took a bunch of unnecessary photos of stuff on my little adventures, and I’ll post them. It’s pretty random though.
Went to Orientation at 10; pretty basic stuff.
Found out that because I’m an alien, I have to register with city hall, which absolutely no one told me about. Some said
that they got the information when they got their visas, but not me… Luckily, the DK House manager took most of us (some opted out) to go get registered. We left at 12, and didn’t get back until almost 5. Between the ridiculous amount of walking in flip flops --because my luggage hadn’t come, leaving me solely with the flip flops-- and the 2+ hours we spent in that miserably hot building, I’m extremely tired.
I’ve barely eaten anything since the food, if you can call it that, they served on the airplane, of which I ate little because I didn’t feel good. So that’s virtually 2 days of not eating after this little registration excursion. Once we get back and sit down for a while, some suggest that we go to an izakaya tonight, and I agree at first, but decide I don’t want to wait that long to eat, plus I promised my mom I would talk to her at 8 my time. So I take a shower, walk to the supermarket and buy water, ramen and cheese doodle-type things, and get a bento from the little shop outside. I got the Mahi Mahi, and only because
Jessy's Clouds
Jessy wanted me to take pictures of clouds from the airplane for her. it didn’t have any kanji in the name, so I knew what it would be 😊. To tell the truth, it wasn’t very good (for my tastes), but it was the first decent meal in a long time, and I was very grateful to have it.
I finish unpacking my bags, finish typing this up, and get ready to talk to my mommy 😊
