Down the Highway 1

We took it easy last three days... just cruising our way down the Hgwy 1 from San Francisco to LA. It's a great drive and the coast is amazing. So many different views! And we enjoyed a beautiful weather.

First stop was Santa Cruz - a place we'd define as a typically southern Californian - even though we're just not there yet. Long beach full of people sunbathing or playing volleyball. And a boardwalk full of restaurants, shops and even roller coasters. We lunched at the pier while watching seals and pelicans... we even spotted couple of dolphins!

Our first overnight was in Monterey though. A place made famous by J. Steinbeck and his books... Cannery Row is still there!
Here we also visited Peltons. It was so nice to see them after soooo many years. Last time was in '96.

After Monterey we cruised down the Big Sur coast and stopped in different places: Punta Lobos State Park, the famous Bixby bridge, Pfeiffer SP and its only coastal waterfall, Morro Bay with its unique huge rock in the middle of the bay, Santa Barbara and it's hispanic heritage...

We're now in Malibu and will be heading to discover LA tomorrow. After that we're done with the coast and will head east for the Southern Californian deserts.

Hallo Jan Willem en Tajana, Leuk weer wat van jullie reiservaringen te ontvangen! Mooie foto s, met ook een prachtige natuur! Leuk dat jullie de familie Pelton bezocht hebben, dat was na zoveel jaren voor Tajana vast heel verrassend! Jullie gaan nu richting Grand Canyon? Dat leek Nico ook wel leuk, wie weet misschien onze volgende trip! Hier is het weer aardig goed, heb een mooi weekend in Maasticht gehad , en ga deze week nog een paar dagen naar Voorthuizen .
