Well, some good news. I was sick of waiting and getting no response, so on day 9 I took myself out to the airport, waited an hour to be served and then they tried to fob me off until I said I was not leaving without my luggage - they just HAPPENED to find it in the lost and found office where it had been for 5 days - not happy, but now I have it, I am verrrrry happy.

Now I have been able to have a little fun. Phillip and I went to spend the afternoon at the beach and then went to the light show in town - at the magic fountain. During the summer evenings, when the fountain is activated, it attracts hundreds of visitors who watch the approx. 15 minute spectacular display of light, water and music. At the same time, the Palau National is illuminated, providing a beautiful background. The show runs every thirty minutes. The start and end date depend on the time of the year, but the best time to see the fountain is at sunset.

The Font Màgica or Magic fountain was part of a project built for the 1929 Universal Exhibition. The exhibition took place on Montjuïc, a hill on the eastern end of Barcelona. It was designed by the engineer Carles Buigas consisted of a series of cascades and fountains between the Palau National, the main exhibition center on the Montjuïc, and the Plaça d'Espanya at the foot of the hill. It took one year to complete the project. The most spectacular part was the monumental Magic fountain. It was originally intended to show people what could be achieved with filtered electrical light.

The next day, it was off to Figueres to see the Dali museum. The Dalí Theatre-Museum was looked at as a whole, as the great work of Salvador Dalí, for everything in it was conceived and designed by the artist in order to offer visitors a real experience of getting inside his captivating and unique world. I had not realized the breadth of his work, we only get to see snippets of his work. Iwill post some photos later.

Today, it was off to the local market for some fresh steak and salads for a cook up tonight, then off to the catalan palace of music which was started by a group of local choir singers and raised enough money to employ a famous architect to build them this palace of music. I cannot do it justice, so have added a web address for you to visit.

This will show you just how beautiful the building is and is a UNESCO world heritage site. Off to Calpe for Brigitte´s 60th birthday on Wednesday. I am so greatful to have the luggage back as her present and card were in the case!
