San Francisco

Yet again on the road! North America this time, and we'll keep it to the west side. First stop: San Francisco, California.

It's nice to be back (for some of us) even better for the first timers. 😊 The weather is great: sunny and warm - not really a guarantee for this place. Today we started early and did all the fun stuff you can do aroud here: we took the cable car through steep streets while hanging out of it, watched the sea lions on the Pier 39, and did a boat ride under the Golden Gate and around Alcatraz... Cable cars are great. All the time totally full - so you have no choice but stand on the side of it. And the driver puts together a one man show: "Hold on, here we go" and then he plunges down the road that is really, really steep... The funny thing is that the traffic rules don't apply to the cable cars... So it goes full speed through red lights and rings a warning bell like crazy if there is a car in the way. No attempt what so ever to break. He just yells: "We'll see who's gonna win!" Of course, the cars move... And because of the steep streets, the stops are, more often than not, in the middle of the crossroads... Everybody just hop on or hop off and whatch the cars!

JW on the other hand, enjoyed the boat ride the most. The view of the skyline is great and we did have a unique perspective on the Golden Gaden: underneath!

But for the rest, San Francisco is really relaxed place. For a moment we paused in a small park with a superb view of the city (well - we had to chill for a moment after the climb!) and then saw a humming bird right there next to us. Funny. We've never seen one in 'wild' and certainly didn't think it would then be in the middle of the city.

Tonight we're gonna check out the night life of SFO - and tomorrow we're heading south down the Highway 1. Next stop: Monterey.

San Francisco - unica e originale
Siamo molto contenti che SF vi sia piaciuta. SF è veramente una città unica, ed ha delle caratteristiche come nessun'altra e fa sempre piacere scorazzarvi; specialmente la prima volta, ma anche tutte le successive.
