Kochi eveninglife
After I saw Sakko off at Kochi airport, I called James from Sheffield to see if he was up for doing something. He said a few people were going to Josei Koen for some ultimate frisbee. So I got a taxi straight there - cost me over JPY 4,000! When I got there I wasn't too sure which way to go, so Michelle had to come on her bike and retrieve me. Bless her. I brought with me a couple of bottles of beer and some yuzu drink. Unfortunately I couldn't join in the frisbee action, as I had crocs on, so I ended up sitting on the side drinking beer and getting demolished by mossies. Damn parasites... Ended up going to Hirome for some dinner with James and Stephen from Oz. The others joined us later. We then went drinking with some random Canadian dude who took us to a late night joint where James ate some sashimi. I think.

The next morning was difficult to say the least. I just wanted to sleep, but I had to discuss lesson plans with my teachers. Fortunately I got a second wind after lunch and managed to steam through

where some random old dude asked James where he lived, but James refused to tell him. Spoilsport!
my lesson plans - woohoo! And then I went shopping at Value for dinner, but after I'd paid and was about to cycle home, James called to see if I wanted some dinner in Nangoku. So we ended up searching for a restaurant, but the first place we went to that had "ramen" and pictures of fish outside had a few tables and not much of an eatery feel to it. Oopsie! So we went to another place, which turned out to be an Izakaya. Oopsie mark two. But she said we could have dinner for JPY 650 but there was only 1 option. So we got it, seeing as it was cheap, and it turned out to be really good. Miso soup, rice, pickles, aubergine in miso, and salmon cooked with salt. Yummers. As we paid, we split the bill and some random guy said that the man was supposed to pay for everything. Then some random woman informed him that these days young people split the bill. The dude replied it was wrong, and if I were to go back to the bar when he was there, he'd pay for me. Not quite sure how to take that.

my weekday getup
Especially as he tried to find out where James lived. Could be either completely innocent or totally sinister. I like to think Kochi breeds relatively normal people, but then there are weirdos everywhere. Goddamn people....

English Lessons
I had my first lesson on 28th August - first year Oral Communication I. My god they're shy!! I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall sometimes. It seems like they get really timid in front of the whole class, but individually they're fine with talking to me. Bless 'em. My second class went really well - third year Sogo. They're a smaller class and it's elective, so maybe that's why they're more vocal in class...
