Finding my Canadian Marketable Skills

The other day, the health inspector showed up at my work to do their routine inspection and they made a comment that we need to defrost our freezer and remove some of the ice that has built up on the sides. Since I usually close the store and when staff close we are responsible for doing any extra cleaning I was given the task of figuring out how to remove the 3 inches thick of ice around the sides of the freezer. I quickly realized that I could use my special Canadian skills and experience to deal with the ice. Who better to know how to appropriately remove unwanted ice than a Canadian who has spent years removing ice from car windshields.

First, I assessed the ice on the freezer... What was the solid ice to snow frost ratio? Second, I determined that my usual way of dealing with this type of situation would be to sleep a little later knowing that my dad would most likely chisel away all the snow from my car for me!! YAY for dads.. unfortunately I didn't think that this would be particularly feasible. Third, I began to scrap off the ice in a similar fashion as I would my car windshield. It all worked out and I was happy with how clean the freezer had become. The following morning both my manager and supervisor both dragged me into the stock room and begged me to tell them how I was able to get all the ice off of the freezer. I told them that it was a special Canadian secret that only a fellow snow bunny could understand. I never thought I would be so grateful to have lived through harsh Canadian winters.

A funny side note:

Today at work, Edilson and I were discussing the names of our favourite cartoon characters and how they translate into English. I found the Portuguese-Brazilian translated names to English to be very very funny. The list is below...

Bugs Bunny = Long Legs
Woody Wood Pecker = Hit Wood Bird
Road Runner = Runs Many Kilometers Quickly (also called Speedy Bird)
Porky Pig = Stutter
Tweety = Pew Pew
Sylvester = Homeless/street person
Shaggy fromm scooby doo = Sausage

Isn't it funny how the names are different?!?!
