On Tuesday 8/4 I drove from Malahat, where I was staying at the KOA campground, to Port Renfrew on the west coast of British Columbia. Molly and I hiked in the San Juan Provincial Park, which is a many-miles long beach park with a hiking trail that rivals the northerly one at Pacific Rim National Park. I saw serious young (and some old) hikers beginning this trail. I hiked down to Botanical Beach and Botany Bay, and here are my photos.

Wonderful blog!
Cindy, I've so enjoyed your entries--commentary and great photos. Your folks and Robin look wonderful. Forgive my brevity, but it's really painful to sit at the computer for me (still). Keep those dispatches coming! With love, Maurya

San Juan or Juan de Fuca?
Howdy, interesting pix! I used Google Maps to look for Botanical Beach, bc and wound up zeroing in on Juan de Fuca Provincial Park near Port Renfrew. Is that "the right one"? Cheers. TM
