Lake Kariba- Siavonga

Stunning.

Wish I had more time there. We arrived on Friday evening after having a wonderfully sunny day. The drive was beautiful going through the mountains and down long straight roads that is tribal bush area. Where we stayed was about 2m from the lake and had a gorgeous pool area with the garden overlooking the lake. It was just like being on the sea because you couldn't see the other side and the lake is so wide. The sunset over the lake was so pretty. We had dinner round the fire and then went out to Eagles Rest which is just down the road for a few drinks.


On the Saturday we went on a House Boat for the day. To get there we went on the speed boat which was amazing and went sooo fast across the lake, there are various islands and you can see Zimbabwe as you travel along. It is quite hazy becasue of the bush fires but you can still see it. About midday we arrived at Lake Kariba Inn which was the setting for the Powerboat race. There were 3 challenges and it was funny to watch. Afterards we had the BEST BRAE (BBQ) on the houseboat from a guy who ran his own butchery and we had a wooping 3.6kg chicken to munch through as well as Boarwurst (sausage), salad, potato salad etc. On the way back we had a stop and went for a swim, which was amazing, the water was so warm!

Of course being surrounded by South Africans we had to get back for the rugby! I would have loved to have had more time there becasue the scenary was stunning and there were a few bits and bobs to do. I was disappointed though, i didnt see one croc and only saw 2 hippos! 😊

So summing it up, beautiful lake, grreat weekend.
