I was feeling better today, just drained. The ladies made pancakes for us, which were more like flat mandazi, but very good. We headed out for church even in enough time to get there before it started.

Well, sort of. We were told it starts at 9:30, but not really worth going to until 10:30, which is when we arrived. There was some singing, some speaking, some kids doing things, and all sorts of stuff going on. All of the speaking was said in both Swahili (or maybe Kikuyu) and English, but very quickly, so sometimes I missed it. It was very loud, too. Sometimes the drummer or keyboard player would get bored and just play a few bars.

Then we, the guests from Canada, were invited up. Apparently here, nobody distinguishes between the US and Canada. We did a skit (not a sketch or drama) that we put together last night based on Matthew 18. The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant. I was the second servant, who owed a small debt to Sarah and then got thrown in jail. Wayne was supposed to throw me in jail, and did so happily, but I was surprised when he opened the actual door and pushed me out! As much as being on stage isn’t my thing, it was kind of fun, I’ll admit. The crowd enjoyed it.

Then there was more singing, and some preaching. The man speaking said that since we’d done such a good job, he wouldn’t speak long. 65 minutes later, he finished. The unfortunate thing about the service, besides the length (2.5 hours) is that the pastors were yelling. It soon just became noise that everyone seemed to be disregarding.

After lunch, I was ready for a nap. And a nap is what I took!

We kept looking forward to Sunday because we were told that we were having spaghetti! A lot of the meat here has chunks in it- bone and gristle and stuff- but Bud ground the meat for us, so it was chunk-free. The noodles were Angelhair, so they cooked quickly and were a hair soggy, but still really good. And just having Prego sauce made it feel like home.

We all played a game after dinner, called Do You Like Your Neighbors. It’s sort of like The Winds Are Changing, and was lots of fun to play with the Africans.

All the girls watched Tarzan on my computer before turning in.

(I'll try to post pictures soon!)
