Heya...
Just come back from 3 days in the bush and managed to fit in a lot.
Set off at about 7am on Wednesday and arrived at about half3. It was a long journey but it was nice to see Zambia outside of Lusaka, it is a really pretty country with varying terrain of hills and flat. I was so glad when I got there that it is hotter than Lusaka. I actually tanned!
Day1.
Had a walk down to the river when we arrived and saw a crocodile and lots of tracks, which was really exciting becasue I had no idea what to expect when going out into the bush. The camp was lovely with lodges and set right next to the river. Stayed up for ages just listening to everything, it was amazing- lions, elephants, monkeys. When we were driving through the camp I saw lots of game, which was really cool becasue its the first time I've properly seen it.
Ooo I forgot my "fan club"... we stopped at a village and bless these little kids had never seen a white girl before, I was like famous... Jaco and I walked down to the
river and they followed us, then one of them wanted to shake my hand... then all of them wanted to shake my hand. They were all so fascinated by me. (I kind of realise how a circus attraction felt)!!
Day2
Got up at 6 am and saw the most amazing thing, on the other side of the river were elephants and as we sat there they started to cross, then started the lions and the baboons.. I was like wow! I then went on a drive and we didnt see much game apart from loads of elephants, it was stunning, I was so lucky. We drove down the Luangwa a bit.
The Luangwa river has gone down a lot since rainy season but it will be really interesing to see how low it goes. In the afternoon, we went for another drive up to sunset hill, which was breathtaking, pictures just cant do it justice.
Then in the evening I went fishing... at first i was really scared of the crocodiles but i calmed down and I caught... 4 fish... one of them was sooo big and it put up such a fight but i was really proud of
myself and magaed to catch it.
The sky was beautiful, I saw loads of shooting stars and you could see the milkyway and the southern cross etc, and it was so clear.
Day3
This morning wasnt as exciting as the morning beforehand but we went for a walk on the otherside of the river and found a really pretty area where we saw some game and a really pretty area, we then cam back for lunch before going fishing and I caught 3 more fish... had a really good day...OO and I drove a land cruiser through the bush. The roads are so awful though, makes you appreciate tarmac!
So the next day we travelled back and here I am...
Its so hard to express everything in words I just want to take you there and show you all that happened. I saw and learnt so much... i cannot say it all!
