Day 44. Tuesday.
After my shower I decided to take advantage of Bob's laundry room before my looming departure back East. The thought of returning to work really does not appeal to me. I hope it's picked up some though. The thought of sitting half a day waiting for a load... well I just don't think I'd do it.
The air filter I ordered for the Dodge is supposed to be in this morning so I'm waiting on that call from NAPA. Bob wants to show me Comox Bay and there is a store that sells local art and crafts that he said would be a good place to get a souvenir from the West if one was so inclined. It's overcast again which also makes me want to move on although I've heard the weather back home has not been great either. I guess it's just going to be one of those summers. Come winter the travel industry will benefit from it though.
Bob told me there was a good pancake house in the area a few days ago so today I talked him into going for lunch. He was right, it was good. A stack of five pancakes and some bacon hit the spot. It was in Comox just up the street from the harbour where he wanted to take me anyway. We wandered around looking at the boats and spotted an all aluminum sail boat. These are tough ocean worthy boats.
After we were done at the harbour we went to the gallery/shop where they sell local Indian produced items. I bought a small mountain print to remind me of the West coast. On the way home we stopped to get supplies for dinner and then at the NAPA to pick up my air filter for the Dodge.
After dinner I was waiting for Bob to water the flowers before we took Tika for her walk. I was standing by the river when what we think was an American Bald Eagle flew by. Bob says they line the river when the salmon come waiting for the dead. The cougars and bears like it too.
