Hungary awaited us on our next leg of Eastern European travel. A short train ride from Bratislava got us to Budapest around 1pm and after checking into our hostel we started exploring the streets of Budapest. This is a very cosmopolitan city in comparison with the last 2 Eastern European capital cities that we have been in ... there is a ton going on and a places to eat and shop abound. People here compare it to the "Paris" of Eastern Europe, although we didnt see any crepe stands.

Usually the places we have been staying are nothing out of the ordinary, but this place in Budapest was extremely unique! The name of the hostel was "Homeade Hostel." Everything in the hostel was, just as the name states, homeade or an antique! It felt like we were at our cabin, but really in the middle of a city! It was nice to stay somewhere that felt very homey and we now have some new decorating ideas. We are thinking our Moms would have LOVED all the antiques here!

An interesting fact about Budapest is that it is actually 2 cities, Buda and Pest, separated by the Danube River. Pest, which is where we stayed, in the newer, more lively side. Buda is much older and once we crossed the river we instantly noticed a slower pace. Although we were able to sample a new favorite soup in Buda.... "Cold Fruit Soup." While in Budapest we sat back and enjoyed the musical water fountain which was coordinated with classical music, crossed old bridges, went to the huge market, saw the sights, and were pointed in the direction of fine dining by friendly "Budapesters." We are glad we didnt wait to spend a few days here in Hungary! Oh, and the snickers were as good as ever! Visvontlatasra!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buda....Pest
Great blog. :) Seems like you have a lot of fun traveling. Thanks for teaching me about the two cities. No one has ever mentioned that to me. The fruit soup looks great. Do they eat that as an appetizer or by itself? Have fun and be safe. Greetings Hennie P.S. No baby yet
