We awoke this morning in beautiful Cape Ann, Massachusetts. We were told that it was a popular tourist town with scenic coastlines, beautiful beaches and elegant restaurants that serve some of the world’s finest seafood. We even heard that the old movie "The Perfect Storm" and the new movie "The Proposal" were filmed here. Of course, we would have to take everyone’s word for it because all we could see were the deep dark clouds hovering over us and the smoky fog from the bay. It seems as though the rain is following us along our journey through The New England states and it’s really starting to get on my nerves ! I know I complain about the Georgia heat sometimes during our humid summers but boy what would I give to see a little piece of those golden rays right now. It has literally been dark, cold, wet and dreary since we left the south and it’s getting kinda depressing. One guy told us that it had rained 19 out of the last 23 days. I don’t know how these northerners live up here in all this mess. Snow all Winter and rain all Summer, sorry but I’ll take Georgia
over this any day ! Sorry about the griping too but I just had to get that off my chest. We’ll just have to send a few more prayers out to Mother Nature and hope that she listens. Jon showered last night before the bottom fell out but Tim and I had to shower in the middle of a terrible storm this morning, luckily we made it through okay. We were all dressed, fed and ready to move on to bigger and better things but that was just gonna have to wait. As Tim was walking through the kitchen, I heard a big splashing sound, we both looked down and he was standing in a huge puddle of water right in front of the sink. I’m telling you what, I just didn’t believe it, enough with the water already !! After investigating under the kitchen sink he discovers that the drain pipe had obviously vibrated itself loose and was flooding the cabinet and the floor. Just our luck, first the shower now the kitchen sink !! Luckily Tim didn’t need any parts and was able to fix it with the tools he has on board. I hope you’re taking notes
Anthony, this way he won’t have to type up a resume or fill out a job application ! With that catastrophe averted we packed up and headed on back over to Salem. Tim and Jon decided they really wanted to go through the Salem Witch Museum (in the book) so we back tracked a little bit and made our way there. We were having some trouble finding a parking place so Tim pulled in the Hawthorne Hotel (in the book) and I went in to see if they would allow us to park there. They were really nice and said yes so Tim whipped it in there and we were off to the museum. We watched a small presentation, took the tour, bought a couple of t-shirts and then headed on up the road towards Lowell, MA. It is just an old small mill town but we had to stop by there cause it’s in the book. Lynn, you may want to bring an orange highlighter with you because I’m using this one so much it’s about to dry up !! We crossed over into New Hampshire making that our 12th state line in 6 days. Yipeeeeee !! We made
our way over to a small town called Derry so we could stop by The Robert Frost Farm (in the book) and check it out. We toured the premises, watched the television presentation, bought some Robert Frost pencils for my nieces and nephews and then we hit the road. Did you know that there are NO TAXES in New Hampshire ? I was in total shock when the lady at the register informed me of this wonderful news. Tim had strategically mapped out our route to take us through two other small towns listed in the book, Manchester and Peterborough, so we road through them and then continued on our way. Now here’s where you’re gonna have about a three hour gap in the story because the last thing I remember before I fell asleep was Tim and Jon arguing with Magellan about which road to take to get us to Vermont. The next thing I know I’m waking up and we’re at Hidden Acres Camping Resort in Dummerston, Vermont and of course, it’s still pouring down rain ! There are two goods things about all this rain, one is that it makes for some great sleep and the other
is that Tim hasn’t had to stop and clean the bugs off the windshield near as much as he did out west ! As I was gathering my thoughts, Tim was bagging up all the laundry (6 days worth !) and hoping that it would stop raining long enough for he and Jon to go over to the rec building and play some pool. Well, the rain wouldn’t let up any so they made a run for it and from what I understand, the old man beat up on the kid pretty bad. Poor Jon, he came back with his head between his legs but Tim had that little smirk on his face that said “Yea, I might be old but I’ve still got it !”. It’s so awesome for the two of them to be able to spend some Father / Son time together and they are making the best of it ! Maybe they will get to spend some of that quality time together in the laundry mat tomorrow ! We heated up some Hot Pockets for dinner and surprisingly enough they were pretty good. After dinner I rubbed Tim’s neck and shoulder’s down with some Biofreeze and
we’re hoping that will help with some of his aches and pains. We gotta take good care of our driver you know ! Well, we’ve made it through 13 states now in a total of 6 days and we’re still chuggin’ along. I think we’re gonna spend a little time in Vermont tomorrow and then go back across New Hampshire and into Maine. That means we’re getting really close to picking up the rest of the crew, YAY !! Thank you Lord for all the blessings you have bestowed upon me and my family. Good Night.

You have cold rain! Here in Las Vagas right now it is 110 and it's just noon. It may hit 115 plus this afternoon. Tomorrow I'll be heading through Death Valley to Sequoia Nat Park. I better leave early. Later, Darrell
