We are on our way to the seacoast when out of nowhere there appeared yet another cathedral and we just had to stop.
It was the Norwich Cathedral which has the highest spire of all gothic cathedrals in Britain.
Originally built starting in 1029 and partially rebuilt in 1529. Even the rebuild is 300 years older than Canada.
Left the cathedal and headed east.
I will say that the English people have preserved their homes and properties at all costs. No home is moved or torn down for the betterment of highways or roads. In some cases they are crazy!!!
Oh my God, you will be cruising at the breakneck pace of 40 MPH (for those of us that remember how fast that really is) and in a split second you come around a corner to find that the road has narrowed to 6 feet with the corner of a house on one side, a barn on the other and a lorrie (no not the fantastic cook in Ajax) filling the remaining space in the middle.
We made our way to the many points on the map and had fish and chips in Cromer.
Continuing on the loop we headed back to our hotel and ran into the roundabouts from hell!!!!!
Traffic circles as they are more commonly known are used instead of traffic lights (this is good). Very minimal slowdown in traffic speed.
However...... the problem here is that they are not marked well (I am being polite) I have been in the wilds of Algonquin, without a compass at night and have never been as lost as we were today. Elke's navigation skills are not to blame. When you suddenly come upon a traffic circle with 5 exits and none of them marked you would struggle to keep your bearings... when you come upon 4 roundabouts back to back and they are not marked... pull over and get the map and compass out. (ok there I've vented - I won't say anything more)
We did make it back.
Tomorrow we leave for Grimsby with a stop at Sandringham, one of the Queen's summer homes.

Wish we were there. Sounds like you guys are having a great time. It's 6:36 pm here and Brenda is still at work. I drove to an appointment in Brampton today only to be stood up by my client. Needless to say we will be drinking plenty of beer and chardonay tonight in the hot tub. Keep the blog up ... its fun to read david
