Where do we go now?
After more than a week in Switzerland I was looking for some first travel adventure and decided to visit my friend Sin Mei in France. So I hopped on a train to Paris and started one of my first trips of many to come this year!

We spend the weekend in Paris, enjoying the sights such as Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe and of course the Eiffel Tower and spend the nights partying away! I've been to Paris many years ago but must say, I like this city, its cafe, the people and just the lifestyle.

As we were planning a road trip through France, we left Paris after the weekend and headed west to Rennes. While my friend had a business meeting, I drove further north and visited the small town of Mont St. Michel. The area around the Mont is famous highest tidal variation. Luckily I was able to drive to the Mont and visit the abbey on top, the view over the flat landscape in the sunset was amazing and very impressive.

We spent the night in Cande, a small village in the middle of nowhere, as my friend looked after a huge house there. The next morning we decided to get to the seaside again and first stopped by the longest beach of Europe in La Baule! After a rainy day we welcomed the warm sunshine again and had a fantastic lunch at the beach before heading south to Sable d'Olonne and La Rochelle, where we spent the night.

The next day we were driving further south to the area of Bordeaux, where we followed the wine trail. We visited some of the famous wineries but unfortunately were not able to go into any of them, as we did not register for a tour. Still we sat down in one of the vineyards and had picnic for lunch, which was a change to the restaurants. The most impressive place was the medieval village of St. Emilion, standing on a hill above acres of vineyards. And of course we had to have a glass of wine before we drove to the final destination of the day Ange!

Off we go to the next stop, which was Avignon in the Provence. So we drove along the Pyrenees, watched the landscape changing, visited another medieval city with a castle and stopped at the beach by the Mediterranean Sea. Arriving in Avignon we stayed a small place outside the walled city.

As we were staying by the sea for the next 2 days, we decided to drive through the countryside of Provence to get to the Cot d'Azur. I was impressed by the landscape of the Provence, where we saw rivers flowing through the hills and drove along acres of lavender fields. The smell of the lavender was very intensive and even though they were not in full blossom, the valley was colored in violet. Once more we picnicked by the river near a gorge before we reached St. Raphael by the sea again. That night we decided to drive to St. Tropez and get a look at the life of the rich and famous :-) The yachts at the port were enormous and we were trying to see who owns these yachts while dinning just in front of the port!

Now it was time to refresh the tan and so we stopped a small beach on the way to Nice the next day, where we enjoyed the sun and the sea. The cold water was refreshing and it was just great to have a relaxed day after 4000+km of driving! We drove along the most beautiful coast I have ever seen to reached Nice where we once more explored the night life!

The time was near to the end of the trip and we drove to Lyon for one last night in France, from where I took the train back to Zurich. Arriving was like going back to winter after those sunny days by the coast, it was cold and rainy!

But I got in to the mood of travelling again and I can't wait to get going! My trip to South America will start on the 18th of July, until than I still have a lot to organise for this long trip and maybe the summer will return to Switzerland again…
