We spent a lovely few days lying by the pool and at the beach; on our first trip to white sand beach, when we were eating lunch, mum got bitten by a very hairy and mean looking spider, considering that’s how Peter Parker became Spiderman I think mum may now be SpiderNan!!!! As we hadn’t seen much of the island we booked ourselves onto an unknown Koh Chang day trip, it started off with a trip to a Mahout village and an hour on an elephant. Mum was quite hesitant to start with but took to it pretty quickly, I however was not so comfortable and was kind of glad when we got off! Tel and Peter both had a go at being mahouts and sitting on the elephants neck, peter looked very at home Mahout style! From here we went to a Chinese shrine where we lit incense and got to ask the God’s a question by shaking sticks in a cup to get our answer. They were all pretty spot on and Cha mine said that if anyone I know is having a baby it’s a boy!!! Next we went to a Buddhist temple and then we went to the very south of the island for a lovely seafood lunch and a bit of shopping. Last stop was one of the islands many waterfalls and a lovely cool dip before going back to the hotel.
We celebrated mums birthday with a champagne breakfast on the terrace and a day lying by the pool and then we went for dinner at a very lovely but very empty restaurant. Luckily the hotel had two Pilipino girls singing which provided us with much amusement until things took a slightly more sinister turn as the bar filled up with single men so we made a move back to the hotel. For the last stop of Mum's birthday we went for a few drinks and some games at the lady boy bar down the road where Tel and I had gone for a couple of shandies the night before. Fair play to Mum and Peter, they were brilliant sports and joined in with the extreme Jenga while the rusty nails flowed. After a few hours with Miss Kinky and her gang we called it a night and went back to the hotel. Our last days were spent lying in the sun, eating, drinking and playing backgammon and before we knew it our eight nights were up. We had an early flight on the evil model aeroplane and then checked back into the Hilton for one more night before Mum and Peter flew to Bali early the next morning. We spent our last afternoon together in a massive mall doing a bit of shopping and getting Mum a wicked new digital camera. From here we went by tuk tuk through the Bangkok rush hour traffic to Khao San road for a tiny bit more shopping! We had our last meal together in the backpacker street where we stayed last time we were in Bangkok and then went back to the Hilton to our last evening of 5 star luxury! We took the opportunity to repack all of our stuff and give Mum some more crap to take home and then said our goodbyes as they had a very early flight the next morning. We weren’t too sure what we were doing after Mum had gone but, after a few hours too many past checkout, having totally abused the privileges of the Hilton’s executive lounge. we sorted out our Vietnam visa’s and booked our flights to Saigon on Saturday. It was really sad saying bye to Mum and our time together seemed to have gone by too quickly. It feels like part two of our journey is now starting as we are pretty much half way through our trip, (No we can't believe how fast it has gone either) and we have just had a perfect halfway holiday, 11 days of total luxury in the middle of part one and two, thank you so much Mum and Peter we had an absolute ball, we are recharged and ready for the second part now! Vietnam here we come!!!!
