Amsterdam - June 3rd - 7th 2009 It was finally time to leave the comfort of my brothers place, and begin the real travelling which is what we came to do. Our first stop from London was Amsterdam, home of whores, Heineken and magic muffins from space. We got set up in a little hotel just outside of the center, and began the walking tours which have become a routine for us now. Our first stop was the Heineken Experience, the original brewery of the world famous beer. Last time I was in Amsterdam, admission to this place was about $2 CAD, and you could drink as much as you wanted for up to one hour. Sadly, times have changed, and now it costs 15 Euro, and you only get one beer with the admission. As in Dublin, we decided it was best to drink the stuff, rather then tour the factory, so that is what we did instead. The draft Heineken that you can buy at most bars in Amsterdam, is in our opinion, one of the best beers in the world. It tastes nothing like in Canada, and I would come back to Holland just to drink the
beer. We basically spent about two full days walking around the city center, drinking the beer and looking at the whores. You can find any type of whore you can imagine here. There are hot whores, ugly whores, fat whores, skinny whores, black whores, oriental whores, and even whores that are really men, so you have to be a little careful if that's the sort of thing you're into. Other then the whores, Amsterdam is a party town, loaded with tourists who are bent on taking advantage of the country's liberal drug laws. The city comes alive after dark, especially in the Red Light District. The town itself is really nice, but if you don't like whores or drugs, there is just not that much to do, and since we needed to keep moving East, we were onto Berlin.
