Sea to Mountains

Has been a while since I last updated. Sat here thinking where have we been?! Briefly visited the Camargue-white horses, flat land and flamingos.

Headed for the coast next. Friends from home were holidaying in the south at Calalivere-Sur-Mer. Amelia and Marshall were both excited to meet up with friends from school.

The drive there was to be a long one but the route we ended on was unexpected. We took a wrong turn and Sean recalculated and took us on the road La Mole. All the way up a mountain and down the other side! Double switch back bends with no barriers and only wide enough for one vehicle at a time. The view was breathtaking IF you could open your eyes! The car brakes were screaming by the end and so was Brian!

Spent a lovely few days meeting up with Ali, Richard & kids. Needless to say there were a few late nights. Loved the area, so thank you.

Amelia and I drove into St Tropez one day and spent time wandering round the market and the harbour. Those yachts are big! Tried to take some pictures but the camera wouldn't work. I just thought the batteries had run out.

Said our goodbyes and headed for St Raphael. Lovely campsite and very, very hot. Ended up taking the car to a garage as the brakes were still squealing. Of course we would have to be in the South of France-expensive.
Camera still not working.

Decide to head upwards into the mountains. Arrive at Camping International in Castellane. Not far from the Gorges Du Verdon. These are the Grand Canyon of Europe. Really breathtaking.

I decide we have nothing to lose with the camera and manage to take it apart! Then find a website on fixing camera lens errors without taking your camera apart! It will now take a picture but no zoom.

Weather when we first arrived was much cooler than the South. Everyone snuggled into their sleeping bags first night and slept really well. Thunderstorm the next day. Now we are back up to 30 degrees!

Climbed to the top of Notre Dame du Roc and nearly fainted on the way up-no breakfast. Didn't think I would make it at one point but saw little old ladies coming down!

Moving on upwards tomorrow to a place called Gap

White Horses!!!!
on way to Grenoble. We are travelling on the Route Napoleon.

Time is racing on. Must try to update at more frequent intervals.

Great to see you!
It was great to see you and I'm glad you liked Cavalaire-sur-mer. I went to Gorges de Verdon over 20 years ago and loved it. May return again one day? Good luck with the rest of the trip. Love Ali and the kids.
