February 10th, 2006,
Day 36 of our cruise of 105, 69 to go.
This is the evening after South Georgia. South Georgia was a whaling station that closed as late as 1965; now a research and conservation station with 12 residents year round! We saw a fantastic museum, a church, the ruins of the whaling station and the cemetery for whalers, seamen graves and Shakelton’s memorial. We saw, smelled and heard sea lions, fur seals and King penguins.
Weather was perfect with sunny skies

I have been reading Ide's blog about your trip and I'm so glad to find yours. The pictures add so much to our trip with you, thank you. My wife and I were on the GWV aboard the Prinsendam last year and pictures of the ship bring back wonderful memories.
