We started day two at the much more reasonable time of 8, again Mr Lucky had some sort of illness and was unable to take us himself but, he has now decided we can build him a website for his tuk tuk services, so, we were dispatched with his brother to take lots of photo’s of his tuk tuk for his website! Weird man!

We started off at Pre Rup and a few of the smaller temples which were all very beautiful but we felt what we had seen on day one had spoiled it for the rest!! From the main sites we then made our way about 30km east to Banteay Srei or Lady temple as it is known here. It’s like a miniature temple as it’s much smaller than the others but the carvings were exquisite. From here we went to the Landmine museum where we watched a video about an amazing man called Aki Rai who has disabled over 200,000 landmines himself and has set up a school and a rehabilitation centre in his own home. It was a pretty sobering experience in the middle of razzing around in a tuk tuk seeing temples but it made us remember what the Khmers have gone through and put into perspective the annoyance we had started to feel at the very pushy kids - they are only trying to survive! After this we started to make our way back over to Angkor Thom as we wanted to see it in a different light but unfortunately on the way we had a puncture, so, Tel and I sat in someone’s front garden while Long Seng went to get the tyre sorted - now there’s a photo for Mr Lucky’s website!!!! We made it to Bayon just before the afternoon storm started and we sat inside one of the face towers with the thunder grumbling above us for about an hour - just awesome!!! It must seem bizarre going back to the same place the next day but I fell in love with the face towers, I cannot put into words how amazing they are!! We stopped off at a few more smaller temples and watched the sun set in front of Angkor Wat on the way back to the hotel. Day three and again Mr Lucky was poorly (Bad green Mangoes this time!) so Long Seng took us to some of the further out temples and then to a small village to go and see a floating market. The boat trip proved to be very expensive so we politely declined and spent the afternoon in the very impressive national museum and then had a late lunch in the very beautiful butterfly garden. The temples were absolutely incredible and I’m so glad we came to see them but three days was enough for both of us and we have decided to spend a couple more days here catching up on things and exploring Siem Reap before we get the bus to Pnomh Penh and then Bangkok to meet mum. It’s been so lovely to spend a few days in one place, we seem to have covered a lot of miles in the past few weeks and it’s time to sit by a pool for a day or two!!!! I hope I haven’t bored the ass off you too badly, I tried to keep it as short as I could and apologies for the continual gushing about this place but it really does justify it!! The temples are all so different and incredible each in their own way but Tel picked Angkor Wat for his gaffe (no surprise there it is just massive) and mine has got to be Bayon although Ta Prohm would be a pretty wicked place to live too!!!
