Part of the night I remember
What a night!

As I sit at the computer, desperately trying to keep my eyelids workably ajar, I realise that regardless of my current state, Australia Day was given the celebration it deserved.

Getting to the "Walkabout" was an effort and a half as none of us really knew exactly where we were going, and I think it fair to assume that we may also have been a little intoxicated at the time.

A mechanical surf board tested our already flailing balance, and gave the crowd an opportunity to taunt anyone who took it for a ride. Azz appeared to do the best, but it was perhaps Pete’s inability to last longer than 3 seconds, or the showboating by Cossie and myself that was best received.

I think it is best to spare the meticulous detail... but it could be safely said that it was one hell of a night. All I can remember is dancing semi naked with a bunch of girls from Sydney; belting out countless Cold Chisel tunes; finding one of Pete’s thongs an hour after he was violently removed by two bouncers for trying to crowd surf his way across the dance floor;

following Grovesy around with a camera Big Brother style until he reached the urinal; and at a tick after 5am arriving home with little more than Australian flag worn as a sarong... the disturbing thing is, my jeans didn't make the journey home. Hmmm...?

I hope everyone had a great Australia Day... its funny how celebrating this day is so much more significant when you’re away from your homeland. Must go, I plan on crawling into the foetal position in the corner of the sports storeroom.

Proud to be Australian… but hurting,
Dave
