Day 388
We dug out the camping gear (strangely slightly excited about the prospects of returning to a tent!) and loaded it all into our hire car with Sarah and Bill. We set off with Sat Nav in control and cruised along the freeways in brilliant sunshine and minimal traffic. Things we going all too well and we stopped to pick up some supplies and managed to get lost in the small town of ... down the tightest street possible with barely enough room for our small car to squeeze through let alone the 4WD that reversed down it towards us. Back on track for a short while until we realised we had punched in the wrong postcode! After a few detours through the narrow country roads (also definitely not made for two cars!) we followed the signs to the small town of Crodye stopping for a pic of Sandford beach. We found our camp site, set up and headed down to the Croyde beach with the hoards of crazy POMs who felt that nine degree water is adequate for surfing on a 14degree day! Needless to say we didn't surf and enjoyed watching the POMs suit up in wetsuits hoods, gloves and boots to tackle the less then impressive waves!
Jez and Bill went for a speed round of golf whilst Carly and Sarah wandered around town and its couple shops before retreating back to camp for some red wine!
We joined Ester and Paul with their mates for BBQ dinner and evening of drinking games, where we (well Jez) got taught a thing or two! Never trust a POM with a spoon.

Day 389
We woke to another glorious day and decided to hit the hills. Through the rolling green and lush country side along the coast!
Three hours later and back in Crodye we headed to the pub for a monster size fish and chips. Ester and Paul had to head off, so we decided to check out Illecrombe. Ilfracombe is a stunning coastal town with white washed houses, grand Victorian villas and terraces less than a hour from Croyde. Nestling between the National Park of Exmoor to the East and the golden coast with the surfing beaches to the West is a largest town along the coast home of the famous tunnels. We walked down to the dock picking up some delicious hand made fudge to keep us going before tackling the hill in icy cold wind. But decided against the tunnels this time.
We made it back to Croyde, Jez and Carly headed to the perfect sunset spot (spotted earlier that day) the only problem being the sunset, after a long hour wait in the freezing cold the sun set beneath a line of clouds along the horizon, not quite the sunset we had planned. We made our way back into town for delicious dinner and back to camp.

Day 390
Keen to beat the traffic we headed off early stopping at Macca's for breaky and were back in Birmingham early afternoon (without getting lost!) just in time for the rain! Leaving enough time for the weekly shop, washing and drying our tents (boring!).

Amazing time... but suggestion
Hi, You guys all sound like you had an amazing time in Croyde, North Devon. When you next come and visit the area why not try a self catering holiday property rather than a tent! Tents are great but as the weather can be so unpredictable these days surely a house is a better option? We cater for various party sizes, and include same sex groups (which our other competitors dont) How does an evening relaxing in a hot tub sound? Some of our properties have amazing and unique features. Have a look and see: http://www.croydeholidays.info
