DAY 21
Yella (Let's go) we are off to the Pyramids today. We take a private van with our guide and the sight of the pyramids from a distance are amazing but as we grow closer it is unbelievable how big these are. Francine has been here before but Angie is in total amazement. We have a great time taking photos and climbing on the bottom area of the largest one. We are able to go into the the middle one and the steep incline down and up is done 90% of the time in a bent position because there is so little room. The air is hot humid and very thick as ventilation is poor, We enter the burial room and take a quick look around and can't wait to get out. We just want to breathe some fresh air. But it was worth it just to experience being inside a pyramid.
We also get to visit the Sphinx This thing is huge. Definitely showing its age but still amazing.
We leave there and stop to get take out Egyptian style. Much like our dinner last night. Meat or chicken mixed with onions, olive oil and red
peppers and mild spices.
Our last stop is at the Egyptian Museum, we only have 2 hours here not very long so we hit the highlights. The royal mummy room was fascinating with the remains being so well preserved that the noses, ears, finger nails, hair were intact.
Of course the King Tut area was truly amazing. This Pharoh was really a very insignificant ruler but finding his tomb intact made him one of the most famous of all. Can you imagine what the really important rulers such as Ramses II and Cheops tombs must have been like?
Sorry would not allow any photos in the musuem, like they did 13 years ago when Francine was here last.
