It was the first Saturday of Spring Break (the day before Easter) and we managed to get last-minute tickets to the Roma-Lazio soccer game! I tried earlier that week to get them from the Roma store, but they did not want to sell them to people that were not Roman citizens (apparently they were worried for our safety). But nonetheless we got our tickets! It was quite a mess getting over to the stadium since the bus stop we were waiting at was apparently closed temporarily but we didnt realize until after the bus passed us! So Jordan, Al and I got to the game a minute in. We were sitting in the Roma section and it was crazy! The Roma-Lazio games are huge because there is always a big fight between the Roma and Lazio fans. I walked past people selling espresso with amaretto shots to-go. No wonder why all the Italians had so much energy. On the way to my seats, I saw people jumping over the glass wall to get to the better seats where they could get closer to the fields and to the Lazio fans they wanted to fight. Unfortunately, the Roma team, whose section I was sitting in lost, so there were many angry Italians. The cops had to set off smoke bombs a few times to calm down the crowd and separate the two sides. Once Lazio was up two goals, all the Roma section started smoking like crazy. The guy sitting right next to us had three cigarettes back-to-back. By the time I get home, my lungs are going to be black from all the smoke I inhale here. The game was so much fun though and tons crazier than any college football game I've been too.

After the game, we decided to try out this Lebanese restaurant (ristorante Beirut) my teacher recommended, saying that it was authentic because the owners were Lebanese. It was hard to find being out past Termini, but it was really nice. The portions were a little small but the food was good. The way they made the dishes though, Dad told me that they were from Southern Lebanon. They even played Fairouz (which I spelt wrong!) But it was a really nice day in Rome and a great start to the spring break!

Wow, now I know what I'm doing wrong, Expresso with Amaretto for breakfast from now on. This blog was funny, although, honestly I was worried about you going to the game.
