A few months and counting until I leave. So much more to do. money to save, items to sell, shots to get, days of work to survive without killing my coworkers.

I've been corresponding with an australian girl I met through this site. Following her South American adventures has been a great souce of inspiration and encouragement for me as a lone woman traveler.

So my journey started off this week with a visit from her and her australian friend, who are now traveling through the US.

I was fortunate enough to get a lesson on backpacking- what to pack, gear to buy, and picking out the right pack. and I also learned the aussie term for 'cheers', which is "up your bum!". great fun!!

Miss you already!
I have such mixed emotions about you leaving. You are my friend, baby sister and ex-coworker. Please, let's try to get together by Wednesday, even if it's just for 1/2 hour. I'm so very proud of you and excited about your adventure to say the least. You and I are starting a new life at the same time. How exciting is that!!! And I told Kirk that I will be checking in on little Peanut so he better be expecting me. Love you so much!!! Kathy
