Royal Class the only way to travel!
Hey guys,
Well if you´re ever going to travel the only way to do it is Royal Class! We left Ecuador on our 18 hour bus ride into Peru enjoying the best bus ride so far. I would suggest that Air Canada should adopt this class but since we can only afford it in South America I won´t bother. (Tyne - The only problem with Royal Class is Matt thinks I should call him King Matt from now on...)

Anyways been in Peru for the last five days enjoying the city of Trujillo and it´s surrounding areas. Our first trek was out to Huanchaco a small fishing/surfing town several km´s down the road. The beach there was really nice and judging by the amount of surfers the surf is pretty good too.

Next day off to the Chan Chan ruins. Chan Chan was the ancient city of the Moche people inthe Trujillo area and a civilization the pre date the Incans. The ruins of their city was spread out over 24 square km´s and was really impressively constructed entirely of Adobe blocks(bricks). We also checked out the Chan Chan Museum which was good as they had some

good exhibits and insights into the Moche culture. Since it was Tyne´s Birthday we headed back on the bus out to Huanchaco for some beach and beers.

Tyne - Matt even took me out for a fancy steak dinner and some chocolate cake. The restaurant even had plastic table clothes with red cherries! I think he spent a whole $20 on our entire dinner.

Our next trek out was to the the Huaca de la Moche (Huaca de la Sol et Luna) which were two Moche Temples were ceremonies and sacrifices took place. We visited the Huaca de la Luna which is currently being conserved by the Univerity of Peru and several international agencies. They are only doing conservation and no restoration to the original wall murals so the paintings you see in the pics are from over 2000 years ago! We were also lucky enough to get to hang out with the Peruvian "hot Dogs" out front, this breed is also over 2000 years old and these hairless dogs run an average body temperature of 40 deg. Celcius!! They are awesome and I´m definetly getting one of these cuties when I get home😊

While we were here we had been trying to connect with Ronald who is Tyne´s friend Angela´s cousin, we finally got ahold of him and we were invited to go with him to the highlands with his friends. We were pretty excited as we expected to get to do some hiking and hang out with some locals our age. When we were picked up at 6am the next day it was explained to us that in fact we were going to the highlands with Ronald´s Church youth group to spend the day at a local school hanging out with the local kids and giving them school supplies. We were both pleasantly suprised and looked forward to the experience. When we arrived in the northern town of Agallpampa we quickly realized why these children needed the school supplies as the area is quite poor. After a quick breakfast we went over to the school andthe fun began! Ronald and his friends were really awesome and we were introduced to everyone and included in all the activities as though we belonged to his group for years. We had a blast playing lots of games and doing group activities. That experience was something you can never gain from any tour and will probably be one of the highlights of our year long trek. After we concluded our activities at the school we ventured out for a hike in the hills, what a work out! Hiking at high elevations is definetly tough but the pictures you get at the top are what makes it worth it. Anyways we can´t thank Ronald enough for this memorable day. Well all goodthings must come to an end so that night we headed out on our 18 hour bus ride to Lima😞 No royal class this time so it pretty much sucked.

Next Blog Lima....
