(PS Michael was describing the themes he has carved into his figure of the Dowar Coo. Some of his notes were in Gaelic, and there's no way I could transpose them.)
At Temple House, outside of Sligo, near the ruins of an 11c templar castle, Kate and I saw the oddest creature, part dog, part coyote, part badger, magical, almost human. It moved in herky-jerky fashion, and when you looked in its eyes time and the world was nailed to your brain, the air froze in twilight amber and all the green on the Isle of Erin evaporated, washed away, all hues dissolved in grey; and the creature was the only movement in the universe. We told the proprietor of the place, Sandy Percival, what we had seen. An odd, part prideful, part rueful smile came over his face. "You've seen it then, " he declared.
"Seen what?" we asked.
"The Beastie," he answered, turning away. "The Daracoo."
And he said no more....

(NOTE to children. This is a true incident, if told in an shining example of overwriting. Should be attempted by trained professionals only. Do not try this at home.)
