Edit Blog Post

Well, I have finally gotten around to the Blog. It has been a busy month. Starting with my computer crash, TV cable crash and ending with our trip to Cambodia
As i mentioned my computer died. That was seriously traumatic. Our only link to home and it was gone. Oh, no. A little dramatic eh. Well we took it to the computer hospital and had it wiped and whipped back into shape. now the only problem is that every thing that was on it before the crash! Gone! So that is my excuse for taking so long to send more blog.
I am missing some addresses so anyone feeling left out pls forward your address to me. Thanks
We have actually been very busy. Bangkok is a city surrounded by water and canals. The lifeline of the occupants. Road traffic is a zoo, you think TO is bad. Bangkok is much much worse. There are 10mil. people here and i think they all have cars, motorcycles, tuk tuks and they all want to go somewhere at the same time. Why they don't all use the Subways and skytrain i will never know.
We travel both regularly. They are efficient, fast and cheap and immaculate. We still haven't managed the canal boat (buses) but we will eventually. Its those rolling stops, jump on that bother me. you will notice in the pics the men on the outside of the boats. They take the fare. the hard hat is because there are numerous bridges and they are very low. ie. Watch your head!!
We are out most nights but occassionally we like to veg. So like all good vegetables we got cable TV. half Thai some English. Worked for us. But following along that Crash Course. I turned on the set to watch my favourite telly show(The Amazing Race) and guess what. No telly!
Well, this is a dilema. We don't speak Thai. how do we call customer service. Answer. Frequently. We called every number we could find. followed all the prompts and got cut off a dozen times. I think is was that awful word we kept reiterating. "English"
Finally after the umpteenth time we got a person and she spoke English a hel- of a lot better than i spoke Thai. my Savior. She sent the repair man the next day. No go. he played around in the light fixture in the hall (It appears the cable wires run through the fixture, but at 220Volts you couldnt pay me enough to play up there. Anyway it was determined we have no cable. must have another service call.
Still waiting. The rosie side of this i get to write this blog instead of watching TV.
We are obviously creatures of habit because like at home we found a restaurant we freguent a couple of times a week. Italian of course and because we are regulars now we get a 5% discount on every bill. Gee i like this country.
As i mentioned, we also returned to Cambodia. We had been there last year but we didnt have enough time to do our own touring around so we went back last week. We got to do the sunrise at Ankor Wat. pic included. not as good a a pro but we got it. Siem Reap is an interesting place. We went to the floating city. It is amazing. Schools, hospital, restaurant an entire community. We may have to return in the rainy season. the residents claim it is beautiful then. Now the lake looks like the muddy Mississidppi.
We are currently planning our trip to Austrailia. That is April. all reservations are made. looking forward.
Will keep in touch. All of you can drop a note if so inclined. Take Care. Doug and Dolly, Mum and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa(you get the picture.)US
