It Shouldn't Be ...

It shouldn’t be so difficult to take “our family” on a trip. As I type Kirk and I are emotionally in “Neutral”. Praise had his American Visa interview at 7:30 this morning. To not bore you with all of the questions, details and reasons I will simply repeat what the officer said. “He is temporarily denied. This is a special case as you have no legal custody of him outside of Ghana. I will keep all of this paper work and we will call you with a final decision.” Exactly when they will call he did not say - one day - one week - one month ???

Due to the increase in “World Wide Child Trafficking” this decision could easily go either way. The American Embassy is not trying to be difficult rather they are protecting the children of the world. The officer, behind the bullet proof glass, has no personal relationship or involvement with us. He knows nothing of our personal character therefore has no guarantee that Kirk and I will return to Ghana with Praise.

We expected these difficulties but it doesn’t make their reality any easier to live thru. We have travel plans “A”, “B”, and “C”. Obviously “Plan A” being the most desirable for everyone involved.

I realize this is stressing news for some of you. It is in fact stressing and it is out of our control. So for now… as we continue to pray … the most we and any of us can do is stay in “neutral”, carry on and wait for “The Call”.

Saddly with Praises situation as it is, it seems pointless to continue the paper process for Kwabena (our 16yrs old boy). Though all hope is not lost for them, just greatly deminished.
