Hey Everybody!!!
I am currently in Nha Trang! This was one of Mitch's favorite places and I can see why. Last time I wrote I was in Hoi An. This turned out to be a very nice little town and I am very glad I went there. Lizzy and Steph and I spent two days wandering around the city. I cannot believe how many shops there were to have clothes made. I really enjoyed the market and walking along the river. Vietnames people are so friendly and everyone says hello. I saw a woman in the market with one of those hats I like so much and she had a canadian flag on the hat. Should have taken a picture of it!! Anyways so we caught an 11hr night bus down to Nha Trang. It wasn't a horrible journey this time and I slept almost the whole way. It was a sleeper bus where each person has a tiny bed like place to sleep. It was nice to be able to stretch my legs.
So we arrived in Nha Trang at 6:00am and found a nice hotel near the beach. We went for breakfast and then headed for the beach.
Market
Hoi An It is really really hot here. It has to be near 40 degrees because it is the hottest I have felt on my trip so far. We spent the day on the beach relaxing and taking in some sun. I played in the ocean for about 2 hours straight. Just swimming around and jumping in the waves. We went out for a nice dinner and then headed to bed.
The next morning we went on a boat trip to some of the islands. We got picked up from our hotel and went to the harbour to get on the boat. There were 10 Canadians on the boat and one guy lived just down the street from me in Langley. Small world!!! We had a great day snorkelling and swimming and exploring some of the islands. We had a feast for lunch (see picture) and then the boat crew put on a show for us. It was a great day and so much fun. It rained for about two hours in the afternoon. It was really cool to be swimming in the warm ocean water in a rain storm.
That night we went out for dinner at the Why
Not Bar! Mitch it was as fun as you made it sound for sure. Had a great night with all the people we met on the boat. Headed home and had another great sleep. The beds in Vietnam are so soft!! I love it! Especially after Thailand in which the beds are like cement slabs. This morning I said goodbye to Lizzy and Steph as they are heading down to Thailand for the full moon party. Today I booked my bus to Ho Chi Mhin City and booked a day of scubadiving for tomorrow. I was happy to see when I was snorkelling yesterday that the visibility is pretty good so I will dive tomorrow. It is not as clear as the visibility we had on Koh Phi Phi but it is still pretty good.
Other than that I think I will go read my book on the beach for a couple hours and have an early night. I am still having a great time and I can't believe that I only have three more weeks. It hasn't really felt like I am travelling alone at all because I have been with people basically since Stacey left. It is
kinda nice today to just be by myself. Time has gone by so fast. I hope all is well at home. Starting to think more about home as the countdown has begun. Wish I had another three months to go though. Miss you all, talk soon,
Alicia
