Front of Buddha
Where has week 5 gone? This week was used for planning a presentation on our (PCT) perception of the needs and strengths of the local Moo. The Moo is like a village and the official government office is called a Tambon. We have been studying Moo 2 for the last couple of weeks, interviewing and gathering information about the occupations, local business, health and education issues. It has been interesting doing this especially with the lack of language skills. The locals are very patient with us and we all laugh a lot. The presentation, to be held in front of local officials, must be in Thai! We have until the 25th to practice.
Friday we did an English camp at the larger elementary school in Chaibadaan. Think about explaining snow to kids who have never seen it. We had them make paper cut outs, you know, like when you fold a piece of paper several times and then cut angles out. When the kids unfolded the paper and saw what they created, their faces lit up. It was a delightful moment. I'm uploading some pics of the kids and school today and that will complete this weeks blog.

After eating Thai spicey food!
learn the site of the village I will live in for the next two years. It's exciting and nerve racking as the realization of being alone (the only English speaker) and trying to figure out how to be of some benefit is a little daunting. This Thursday we travel to Bangkok and then Friday figure out how to get to our new sites to begin negotiating for a rental house. Sure wish I brought along "Gerttie" (my GPS) If you don't hear from me after two weeks, contact the State Department and have them come looking!

Thanksgiving
Ginny, we had a great Thanksgiving and poor Bob was totally worn out when he returned home. We didn't seem to have a lot of free time together...My Thai friends love him and my PC friends all wanted to meet him. Thanks for keeping up with my adventures. Lynda
