Lottie's off on her travels again

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since my first dabbling of toes into the huge waters of world of travel. I'm very fortunate to be off again very soon and this time I'm heading south to Argentina and Chile in the wonderfully shaped continent of South America. My trip starts at the very tip of the carrot - am I the only one that thinks it looks like a carrot? Or moron as they say in Welsh!! How appropriate. Ushuaia is the most southerly city in the world and that's where I'm headed on a long, long journey via Madrid and an 8 hour stop over (groan!).

So the preparations have begun in earnest. Judging the temperatures is going to be more crucial this time round as I'll be overlanding in a big truck affair and mostly camping. I know, I know - I'm not a particular fan of the tented shinanigans but needs must and camping it is. I'll be joining Dragoman, who have just won an award for the best adventure travel company of the year so I'm expecting good things guys! It's going to be a much larger group than I had last year on my trips to Nepal and India which could be quite challenging. But on the plus side I'm more likely to find someone I get on with. All bar 10 or so will have already been travelling together for a few weeks when I join them so hopefully they won't be too cliquey and welcome us newbies into the fold. Looks like I may be the oldest one there at the ripe old age of 43!! Maybe they'll all give up the best seat in the truck to the 'old lady'!

Time to start ticking things off my many lists and trying to reduce the growing mountain of stuff that may or may not be 'essential'.

Buddha to Bollywood
Thank you for the excellent account of your tour! I am going with ImTrav this October, so I appreciate the first-hand information. Any advice on Kathmandu? I am arriving a few days early, and I don't know how to maximize my time there. Thank you! Laura
