It's quite dry here-
The Banks Peninsula is a volcanic area with fertile soil, however there are few trees. The hills are arid and covered in tussock. Most of the trees in the region were destroyed in large fires hundreds of years ago. Moa populations were dwindling, and Maori hunters set fires to smoke out the birds. These fires raged out of control and burned out large swathes of the eastern central South Island.

So............
You guys are having farrrrrrr toooooo much fun. I do hope that you are learning something. Upon your return, it is expected that you bring a cure for cancer, plan for world peace (at least in the Gaza strip) and/or a plan to reverse the U.S. economic slide towards depression (drugs not an option). Think of you every day. (Don't drink the (unfiltered) water). Love, Peter
