Silom Road
Chinese New Year singers and dancers Please close the Airport !!!
Everyone says you must be happy to be home - er, not really. After six trips to Thailand I am not sure anymore. I was hoping the airport in Bangkok would be closed again and I would be kept from returning to Australia a little bit longer. No such luck as the Thais seem happy with their new Prime Minister - for now anyway. Yes I am a proud Australian and my home is Adelaide but it is difficult to leave the many friends I have made in Thailand.
I have been back in Australia for a week and have slowly settled back into work.
After returning to Bangkok from Pattaya I was feeling fairly ordinary with a cold so I stayed in Bangkok and spent time with my friends there without doing much at all.
I did go for an express boat ride down that Chao Phrayer river to have a look at the National Museum and some of the exhibits were very interesting, a good way to spend a morning or afternoon in Bangkok.
Wat Hua Lamphong is on Rama 4 Road and walking distance from my Silom Road
River Boat
The best way to get to the main temples and palaces of Bangkok Hotel. I have passed it many times decided to have a closer look inside the temple and was very impressed with what I saw.
I then made the effort on January 22nd to go to Korat for one day to see the Thai family that I have stayed with to say goodbye and to see everyone before I returned to Australia. They were happy to see me, especially the kids and fortunately everyone I wanted to visit was about the place. There was some quality time with the family and also a few drinks with the bad boys of the village who are so much fun to be around. It was a long way to go for a day but I was happy to do so and reluctantly said goodbye with a promise to return again soon.
Back in Bangkok I had one last night with my friends there without staying out too late and before long it was time for that dreaded trip to the airport. The last week of every trip seems to go so quickly but I am very grateful for the experiences and memories that I have of my visits to wonderful and definitely
amazing Thailand.
