Here we are in Auckland. It already feels a lot warmer. Had a very comfortable night in hotel and a good breakfast (last hotel for a while now) then off to collect motor home. Really helpful at Maui rental base - gave us lots of extras as we are hiring the home for such a long time including the newest edition of the motor home. However it wasn’t quite ready for us so Maui gave us a voucher for a free lunch at a place called Villa Maria. We thought this is good and took ourselves off to find it. Wowie - what a place - a very classy vineyard with acres of vines and a wonderful restaurant right in the centre. We had a huge plate of antipasta with fresh warm ciabbata bread and a couple of glasses the vineyard wine - we must be doing something right what with champagne on the flight over and now this!!
Back to base to collect motor home and off we went to our first site just above Auckland. Our first stay was in a site with all facilities just to get ourselves sorted out. Pretty weary (could be the wine at lunchtime) so a quick meal and a stroll along the beach (forgot to say site is virtually on beach) and then to bed. Tomorrow we are going to see the sights of Auckland.

Here we are in Auckland (tomorrow!) Caught the bus into town after our first night in the motorhome - slept quite well have got most things put away - more or less. Caught a ferry for a trip round Auckland Harbour and all the islands. All very volcanic with black rock against blue seas and blue skies. Weather great - very warm and need lots of sunblock. Ferry trip brilliant - great views of Auckland from the harbour. Easy to spend longer here as there is so much to see and do but tomorrow we will head north. Feel very at home in Auckland because its a dynamic city full of young people!!!!

This is our first foray into the internet cafe culture. Hope everyone well and we will be in touch again whenever.
Love Lyn & Tony
