We worked our way down to Cordoba, with a half day stopover in Resistencia, just so Ann could see the town of 300 statues.

The Resistencia council set up a joint project with local artists and now the town´s streets and parks are littered with sculptures, from the classically beautiful to the intriguingly modern. It was definitely worth a half day´s wander (and in less heat I´d say a couple of days).

CORDOBA - we came to this town for it´s vibrancy, night life and acitvities that you can do in the hills around. Unfortunately the summer holidays and thus lack of students & people and the excessive heat put pay to this. Shame given that it was our friend Eammon´s 30th birthday and he arrived that day. Luckily he had a stonking hangover from the party in B.A. and so we didn´t make it past the Hostel BBQ.

We did do a day trip to Alta Gracia where Che Guevara grew up. There is a museum in his memory here. Having seen the film Motorcycle diaries we were intrgued to see more background on the man and what led him to lead the Cuban Revolution and then carry on the fight. I don´t think the museum actually gave more of an insight than the film, apart from his extreme revolutionary views and how he sacrificed his family for the cause but expected as good revolutionaries they follow in his pass. It was good to see "the Bike" (I recommend the film in any case).

We also so old Estancia that was well restored and ate more empanadas.

Given the lack of adrenaline activities available in the hills we set off earlier than planned to Mendoza where we were assured these were on offer.
