We left the hotel at 9.30 in the back of a converted hilux truck with our tour group which consisted of us, Woody our guide, the 2 kiwis we'd met, 2 norwegians, 2 french and 1 german. Our English pride was at stake!

After stopping at the market to stock up on rum, we arrived at the elephant trek around 2 hours later. We got to trek on top of elephants and it was fantastic. It was truely amazing and I loved every second of it. They're so big up close but really friendly and seemed peaceful. Our one kept stopping every 4 steps demanding bananas of us! When we stopped to let the elephants have a drink, I got a banana out and all of a sudden there were 3 trunks all sniffing at me trying to get it! I gave into the baby one and fought the others off to give him the banana.

45mins later (i was hoping to be on them longer) we got off and had some lunch in preperation for our trek in the heat. We walked for 2 hours stopping periodically for Woody our overwieght guide to get his breath back! We arrived at a great waterfall and dived in. It was freezing but so refreshing after the walk. We got photos under the fall before the power of it pushed me over and almost took my shorts with it. I couldn't stop lauging as we walked under the waterfall and Adam managed to lose his flip flop in 2 feet of sludge. Watching him try to dig it out was hilarious!

Walked for another hour or so to our first campsite which consisted of a small hut for the tribes-people, a larger hut for us, a fire, and the best view of the Thai mountainside to wake up to in the morning. Had a few beers and a great green curry dinner. Everyone seemed shocked by the amount of chilli I put on my dinner. It wasn't even a lot. Poofy nations!

After dinner Woody cracked out the guitar and along with a drum the Kiwi had bought, we had a nice jam, singing songs and drinking beer round the fire. We all seemed to lose our perception of time once the sun went down about 6pm and went to bed at 10 thinking it was the early hours of the morning!

Thank god we'd bought our sleeping bags because it was freezing that night! Everyone else just had the blankets which were supplied and were frozen. It wasn't very comfortable on the wooden floor either but a good laugh.

Well well well! I must say it sounds like you're having an amazing time. The pictures are brilliant and I have to say I'm extremely jealous! Seems like you're packing a lot in during your time there which is really good cos this is a once in a lifetime opportunity so take it for all its got! Gotta say though, drinking every night? Chilli's every night? Ladyboys every night? When I said absorb the culture I'd hoped you'd draw the line somewhere. Anyway, hope you're having as good a time as it looks and can't wait to see more! Lots of love x
