Paradise on the edge of the city. I can't wait to tan my skinny ass on that beach.
Today was a really exciting day because Nick and I booked our trip to Cairns and to Sydney. We have an incredible line-up of adrenaline pumping activities planned and we got a great deal. We will fly to Cairns on the 17th and we have a great activity planned that I won’t give any details on right now because I want it to be a surprise (You will be shocked). The next day we will be EXTREME white water rafting in one of the worlds most exotic rafting destinations in the world. There was a choice between regular white water and EXTREME….Nick and I both screamed EXTREME! The next day we will be doing a full day of scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef (I get chills), they will be giving us instruction and we will have two dives. The final day in Cairns will be spent Reef fishing for several species of fish, some of which include Shark, Cobia and Tuna (I get chills again). We will fly from Cairns to Sydney after fishing and spend half of our day exploring the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge along with other attractions in the city. The rest of

the day will be spent on one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Australia and the world for that matter: Bondi Beach (Paris Hilton has a house there, so you know it’s good). I’ll post some pics of some of these places to give you an idea of what is in store. Nick and I will be staying at an extravagant hotel that night and we will sample the night life. The next day will be spent entirely on the beach swimming, possibly snorkeling and working on our white-boy tans. That’s living Large! We fly back to Brisbane that night and then start our next adventure, whatever that may be. All of that, the 3 flights, the activities, the accommodations the memories for $1200.00 CAN. Not bad. We booked through a special travel agency that is especially for students and it makes a huge difference in price. Nick and I are all smiles right now and I can’t imagine it changing any time soon. The Great Barrier Reef….I have always dreamed of exploring the coral and seeing the spectacular sea life that clings to this fragile ecosystem underwater in the Pacific Ocean. I have to get an underwater

camera.

Nick and I have also booked a fishing trip for this Saturday that will be 5 hours long and we get to keep all of the fish we catch. We are hoping that we can catch as many fish as we do back home because the cost of fish here at the supermarket is steep. I’m also probably going to go fishing this Thursday while Nick is finishing his teaching practicum…too bad for him! By the way, these two fishing trips will be 15Km off the Gold Coast which is one of the World’s premier destinations for surfing, the beach itself is called Surfer’s Paradise. Anyway, before I salivate too much I’ll just say that I’m excited and I can’t wait to share these experiences with you. Stay posted.

Hey guys, all that sounds really awesome. But from the last I remember Jake you can't swim, and if I'm not there to be your lifeguard I hope Nick can pick up the slack. Once again, catch me a shark. Cheers boys.

Water Wings!
Thanks for the concern but I packed my water wings. I never leave home without them.

Bondi
I think you'll find the beaches in Cairns are better than Bondi (check out Palm Cove) If you can, go all the way up to Port Douglas, it's about an hour north of Cairns! Well worth the trip! there are plenty of buses.

You can't swim!!!!
You spend all that time on the water and you can't swim! I think you're going to need more than water wings for white water rafting. Be careful while you're having all this fun...

Jake Myth #1
I can so swim! I usually just pretend I can't so I don't have to go into the water. I always make exceptions for oceans, I swam all the time in Brazil. I only like swimming in salt water, it's easier because there is more buoyancy!
