Saturday Nature Day... near Apollo Bay I think!!
Well hello!

After a week and a half trying to find an internet cafe in Geelong or Warrnabool, I have finally managed it! (Good business plan for anyone looking to move to Auz.. they don't have internet cafes!)

It was an interesting first week, my work was based in Warrnabool so we stayed in the Beach Backpackers just on the coast, which was an experience in itself... it would be nice to have a room to myself again for a change!!! The week was very interesting although not really enough work to keep us going unfortunately... however we were working along Russells Creek in Warrnabool clearing the dreaded woody weeds... basically ash trees and hawthorns which aren't exactly indeginous here! We then cleared rubbish and some grass to allow us to put in new plants along the banks. So an interesting insight into small rivers here in Auz.. hmmm work will be pleased!!! ;o)

Lucky for us the slight lull in work meant we had plenty of time to pester the team leader into taking us sightseeing and bless him he didn't dissapoint! We got to travel down a good section of the Great Ocean Road where we

Not a bad place to spend my lunch break
went to see the 12 Apostles.. or at least the 8 apostles that are left! Then we went down to Loch Ard Gorge and then "London Bridge" where we watched the sun set and then saw the pengiuins come back in after a days fishing.. they were so sweet but one I couldn't photo as it was dark! We also spent an evening down at Tower Hill, a small nature reserve where the animals start to appear at about 6pm...we got to see Emus, Koalas and Kangaroos.. very exciting. And just to top the week off we were able to go for a BBQ in the Park... it seems most parks have a BBQ for the public to use free of charge... a brilliant idea.. just a shame we don't have the weather for it!! So a good week, I then spent the weekend back in Geelong where I spent some time looking around the town for internet and USB ports!! I also finally got a haircut and on Sunday I went to the cinema to see How to Lose Friends and Alienate People( Which I thought was very good) So that was a nice weekend... hey I even managed to find myself a pot of beer too (very exciting stuff!)

The group this week is really nice, I am working with 2 Koreans and a Taiwanese chap which is certainly interesting... Anyway that reminds me I have to dash on.. I'm cooking tonight... its sheperds pie if I get back in time!!!

So I hope all is well back at home... keep me informed on whats going on.. its great to here from you all!

Lots of love, Lorna xxx
