Ok now that I am home in Bath I can sit down and give everyone an overview of Amsterdam!!

Thursday and Friday- We (Me, Meagan, Bridget, Matt, John, Tom and Dhairya) left Bath on the 10:45 PM train because we had an early flight and we decided we were just going to stay up all night rather than paying for a hotel (not a bright idea!) so we arrived at London Paddington at about 1:00 and had to taxi to London Victoria just to wait out in the cold for 2 and 1/2 hours for the Gatwick express to start to run so that we could make our 6:20 plane. our flights went fine but we were just exhausted when we arrived in Amsterdam so we girls passed out for a few hours and then got up with the gang and walked around and down to the Anne Frank House and Dam Square which had a big fair going on. It was a lovely day but we were very tired.

Saturday- Everyone got up early to go to Anne Frank but John and I stayed at the Hostel because we had already seen the house so we got up late when everyone else came back then Megs, Dhairya, Tom and I went to the Corrie Ten Boom house for my mother : ) in Harlem. The Corrie Ten Boom house is now a museum to the family and to Corrie. The family hid Jews in "the hiding place" during the war and were sent to concentration camps because of this. It was a touching story and I only wished Mom would have been there : ) perhaps with Mrs. Ritcher and Bunny as well.
later that night we found the statues of Rembrandt's "Night Watch" and played in them for a while to take pictures and such it was a good time all round!

Sunday-Sunday evolved Clog Shopping and the Rjiksmuseum to see Rembrandt and other Dutch Masters. the most remarkable thing I thought was the doll houses that they had a room devoted to they were huge and very elaborate houses that women would make as exact replicas of their own home with even running water and such it was soo neat.

Monday- We went to the Van Gogh and saw the famous sun flowers and many other beautiful paints with our lovely friend Jules who was staying with a friend in Amsterdam. Rest of the day was spent looking for a copy if Pride and Prejudice in Dutch which was finally found : ) hahahaha

All in all Amsterdam was wonderful but we were happy to be moving to Prague!!!

Hi VC, It sounds like you had a great time in Amsterdam! That is one of my favorite places especially with my interest in Anne Frank and the Holocaust! Can't wait to see you soon! Katie Nagel
