Prague to Znojmo

My trip since Prague.I wish the bus had gone in a straight line... would have made it soo much faster.

First off, I have very little idea how to pronounce the name of the town I'm staying, Znojmo (yeah, best of luck to you), as such when I got on the bus to get here, I just just showed the driver a piece of paper with the name written on it.

My last entry left off with a couple days left in Prague and then I'd be headed on my way to Cesky Krumlov. Since than I've seen lots more than just Cesky Krumlov, but more of that to come later.

Cesky Krumlov is a very beautiful town. So beautiful infact that it is packed with tourist. Lucky not like how Prague's sites are almost year-round and fortunate for me Cesky Krumlov is only full like that during the summer. Once again I'm glad to be traveling during the shoulder/low-season. But, none-the-less, as the town looks good, the attractions I found weren't that much different than ones I've seen before or would continue to see. Castles and churches and the such. Don't get me wrong though, I did discover some interesting places. As I was wondering around the parts of the castle that I didn't need to pay for

someone to take me around in I can across an art gallery held in a maze of old wine cellars.

From Cesky Krumlov began my adventure in towns where less and less people speak English. The next place I hit up was a place called Jindřichův Hradec, or as all the signs say: J. Hradec. And is surprisingly easier to pronouce than it looks. You would pronounce it something like this... Hind-rick(rolling the r)-hoove Hard-eck. There are only two things worth seeing in this town that other Czech towns and cities don't have: the National Museum of Photography and the worldest largest mechanical Nativity scene. Oh, there's also a castle, but those are a dime-a-dozen here. I'm a sucker for black and white photography, so the Museum was that much better but that aside, the photographs were amazing. If you're ever around that area, go check them out. Unfortunately I didn't get to the worldest largest mechanical Nativity scene... It's held in a local museum and all the signs were in Czech and everyone there didn't look like staff. So I wondered around the courtyard looking like I knew what I was doing...

So that brings us to

Znojmo. The route isn't as simple as it looks on the map. I had to go all the way to Brno first before catching my bus here. Everything about Źnojmo is amazing. A good and bad amazing. The centre of the town is built on a valley overlooking a river below, an old, slow and wide river, or (using my Geo 12 skills) a mature river. The hills are just covered with trees, that now are turning into their firery oranges and yellows, with specks of houses appearing and the old ruins of a castle residing over everything. The streets are more of alley ways that are connecting the many public squares. That's the good amazing. The bad amazing is you can walk in any direction from the centre of town and within less than 10 minutes you can look around and have to do a double-take as all the small, quant houses with their orange roofs are replaced with ugly aparments and the industrial sprall begins...There is enough to keep me occupied in around the main square of Znojmo and in surrounding towns for a few more days at least though. And then it'll be time to move on.
