This weekend two of my house mates and I went to Lyme Regis. Emily, Ali and I had such a good time exploring Lyme. Jane Austen's novel, Persuasion, is partial based in Lyme. We loved going to the Cobb and walking though we almost got blown off the top.

Getting to Lyme was very crazy. We went to Salisbury but then when we got onto the next train we did not know that the first 3 cars split off and went where we wanted to go while the back cars went back towards Bath. So we ended up on the wrong train and had to get off at this little town called Warminster. It was out in the middle of no where and the next train coming through was around 10:15 or so but the train we needed to get on to go to Axminster/Lyme left Salisbury at 10:04. So we had to fly back in a taxi to Salisbury ot make our 10:04 train. We sprinted through the train station and thankfully just made it back on the train.
We did finally make it to Axminster and Lyme but it was much later than we had planned but we were just thankful to be there.

When we got up Saturday morning it was a bright sunny morning so we thought we would take advantage of the nice weather before it turned stormy after lunch and so we headed to the Cobb and the Gardens. We walked along the beach. When we came to the Cobb we were not even sure if we should walk on the top because it was so windy and the upper cobb is not smooth or even. but we managed without falling in to walk to the set of stairs that Persuasion was filmed on. There are actually 3 sets of stairs at the Cobb and in all 3 Persuasion movies that I own they all use a different set of stairs. But we thought the stair that were called "Granny's teeth" were the most likely. After to took soo many pictures of us on the stairs and such we went to the aquarium which is really a shack that a fisherman put up with some of the cooler fish that he has caught and charges tourist to go see them. He also had displays from the movies that had been filmed at the Cobb so it was worth it but still he was a character to say the very least.
After the Cobb we walked around Lyme which is know for its fossils as well as Jane Austen. We had a wonderful day walking around shopping in Lyme it is a very picturesque town.

The weather started getting bad later in the afternoon so we decided that we were tired as well and came bakc to out B&B to watch Pride and Prejudice. We watched my favorite version from the 1980s which was very fun though the girls laughed at how into it I was and how I knew most of the lines : ).

Over all we had a wonderful weekend in Lyme but it is nice to be back in Bath because I have a lot of work this week esp. a Jane Austen Paper due Wednesday so wish me luck on that ; ).
Hope to hear from you soon!
Cheers and love from
VC
