Here, in no particular order (probably!) is my Top Ten List for Japan.

10) Toilets - the most multi-tasking toi-toi's I've ever seen. They played music, had seat warmers, bidet function and even had a button for "flushing sounds." Like, don't waste water because you're bashful about being heard, just hit the flushing sound. AWESOME! Sad to say, we had fun with toilets everywhere we went! Each was a little different & some had super special functions.

9) Taxis - self-opening doors, super clean interiors, knowledgeable (but silent) cabbies & no tips!

8) Trains - I've been everywhere, man, I've been everywhere. By train. With EASE. 'Nuf said.

7) Shops - All over the place, all kinds of stuff. No shoes in my size & very few clothes (but there were some, dagnab it!), but they were super fun to browse...especially in Harajuku & Kamakura. Teeny, tiny shops stuffed to overflowing with goods. Eye candy galore...kawaii!

6) Cosplay! - cute girls & boys in even cuter outfits. Super sweet, too. Next time, I'll take more pics!

5) Temples, Shrines and Buddha - Oh My! These were the best places to feel the "soul" and history of Japan. Gorgeous, detailed artwork and buildings. Intricate carvings & amazingly large statuary. Not to mention a Buddha you can climb right into! Talk about welcoming. 😉

4) Food - Sushi, Curry, Onigiri, Meat Buns, Multilayer Sandwiches on Freshly Baked Bread. Convenience store food that was more healthy and yummy than lots of restaurants here. And so easily accessible! In subway stations, on corners, in the hotels...we literally ate our way through Japan. As an added bonus, I learned to eat yogurt while in Japan...it was so good & kept me working in tip-top shape. Yay probiotics!

3) ¥100 Shop - Like the Dollar Store. I could happily stay in this store for hours...Rachel, too. Actually, it's from her to-do list. It's where I picked up several folks's souvenirs. And lots of crazy snacks for myself.

2) Vending Machines - Soda, cold coffee, hot drinks, cigarettes, alcohol, underwear, toilet paper, toys, snacks, food and more! What can't you vend in this country, you ask? I really don't know! And the machines are all over the place...even in parks, woods and the countryside. Wowzee.

and finally,

1) Sumo! Fabulous sport, great fans, cool arena. The most fun to be had sober...or drunk, really. We tried it both ways...drank more sake in that afternoon than ever before. 😊

That's it. That's my Japanese excursion in a nutshell. Great time all-around. Will definitely be going back...anyone up for it? I'm actively recruiting for travel companions...high-maintenance folks need not apply. 😊

Peace & Love,
Rae
