Water...all we see is water!
September 21-27

The days at sea pretty much go by as a blur. Same thing every day. Up around 8:30, head to the Lido for breakfast then hang around reading or such for the rest of the day. Yes Marc, I can just hear you now although we aren't lolling by the pool with margaritas. It's freezing on this ship! We try to find a place to keep warm and with little to no sun it's difficult to say the least. They do have some interesting seminars on digital photography that I have been going to. But for the most part, it's just hanging around. We were so desparate for something to do the other day that we actually went to see the movie that was playing, Speed Racer. Oh man, that was one bad movie, lemme tell ya! At least it wasted a couple of hours.

Every couple of nights or so it seems, there is another "goodie" in the room. One night we got slippers, another we got a nice embroidered logo sweatshirt. We also got a great tote bag, again embroidered, and a shoulder bag. They had umbrellas, tissues, a water bottle and hand sanitizer in them. Who doesn't like presents?

I've been plotting our course with the GPS. That is interesting; I even marked when we crossed the international dateline!

Speaking of, this getting an hour every night is rough! You are more than ready to go to bed at 8PM and ready to get up at 6AM! Each and every night we gain another hour and the cruise director was joking about us all meeting him at 3AM one morning because that's when he is waking up. Apparently, a lot of people are. Dave manages until 7:30 and I get up at 8:30AM. Then we crossed the dateline and completely lost Wednesday the 24th. We go to bed and it's Tuesday the 23rd and wake up on Thursday the 25th. How strange is that? I'm talking to my friend in Long Beach and it's yesterday for her! LOL! We will get that day back on the return part of the trip though. We will also have to give a bunch of hours back too. At least in Japan we won't be changing the clocks for about 5 days!

The only other sea life that I've seen are some spouts from whales

Hard to see but rather rough today! ARRRR!!
that unfortunately aren't close enough to see and one morning, a seal. I just happened to look down into the water alongside the ship one day and there was something long and dark in the water. It surfaced and looked up and it was a seal! Long way out from land but then I read that they go to sea for months at a time. Periodically we saw sea gulls near the Aleutians and also near the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia.

It's about time....
Today, I got 3 posts from you encompassing 9/19-27. This is worse than slow mail!!! Advice to Dave: Relax, enjoy, learn to sit still. This is advice given to me because, like you, I have a really tough time of it. But, I try and find out life is just as good at half speed as it is at slow speed, and it is, indeed, without angst. [I should talk: I'm suffering through a 4-hr. online safe driver course for the speeding ticket I got in NH!!!] Continue to enjoy and smell the sea air. Hugs, N

Patience......
is a virtue my dear. Good things come to those who wait!

relaxing
It takes at least a week to decompress and learn to move slower, which is why I now try to take 2 week vacations. One week just isn't enough although, after two weeks I'm wondering IF I could be homeless and happy. Maybe....maybe, if we still have retirement accounts when we retire, we could take a looooong cruise. I like the thought. In the meantime, I will thoroughly enjoy hearing about your looooooooong trip.

Hahaha, funny to see I got an honorary mention in the blog! Losing an hour is something, but losing a day???? Maybe you crossed into the Twilight Zone. I'm curious to see your GPS track. Save them as a .kml file, and you can plot them on Google Earth!
